Even in the Blizzard Cold Rihanna performs at the Rockefeller Center
Yesterday Rihanna gave us an Outstanding Performance during a snowstorm in NYC at Rockefeller Center for a pre-taping of NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly show. She Performed “Wait You Turn”, “Hard” and then two Duets with Special Performer Jay-Z “Run This Town” & “Umbrella”. The crowd went wild when Hova came on stage. It was an outdoor event with low 19 degrees. It was freezing cold, wet & snowy, the blizzard wouldn’t hold up in NYC. And her die hard fans were there to show her support. They started lining up since 2pm. On stage her staff made sure she kept warm during breaks. She had a lot of energy and looked stunning. She waved and showed her fans plenty of love. Voices Of Unity Fall Concert Feedback
The voices of Unity concert was yet another enlightening experience. As with everything else, it was a struggle to get everyone on the same page a week before the concert. However, on the day of the concert, everything came together despite the set backs. Everyone become united just through singing and dancing, expressing their spirituality. We were able to get the audience to participate with us and it became a joyful gathering. The show did go on longer than it expected.

******Look For A Few Pic From The Show At The End******
The fashion show was well put together from the models to the designers. There were a few things that did not go as planned. 1st off some of the models were very disrespectful, did not like their makeup, and were rude to the designers and makeup artist. Secondly, one of the backdrops fell during the show because one of the models touched the backdrop. Thirdly, the models were not staying at a position long enough so that the photographer could take their picture. Most of them were walking too fast. Despite these shortcomings, the show itself turned out great. The models received a great reception as they were walking down the runway.

SHUTTLES WILL BE RUNNING!!!!!
Hours before the party, there were rumors surrounding the party about it being cancelled. Indeed it was cancelled due to the cops shutting down the Pretty Nasty Party on Friday night at Truman’s Night Club. Less than hrs before the shuttles bus started running to pick people up to take them to the party, the promoters sent out a mass Facebook message reading, “ITS STILL GOING DOWN!!!! THE MOST ANTICIPATED PARTY IS NOW GOIN DOWN AT THE LOFT!!!! 367 MAIN STREET.” Along with the Facebook message, they sent out a mass text message to SUNY New Paltz students.
This party was very successful because although their 1st location cancelled their party, they made sure they found another location for SUNY New Paltz students to party during the Blue and Orange weekend. The only problem was that the line was moving too slow to let eager party goers into the nightclub. Other than that it was a great party. The DJ was on point with the music, and the crowd was happy because most of the crowd did not get into the Pretty Nasty Party on the previous night. They were indeed making up for the night before.
CULTURE SHOCK Present: “Dance Evolution: MAD AS A HATTER”

Dance Evolution, hosted by Culture Shock dance troupe, is a dance competition that is held every fall. There are different dance groups from around the New Paltz area and New York City. Unfortunately there was no competition due to four dance teams dropping out at the last minute and only having two dances team showing up. So Dance Evolution had to turn to two rappers doing three songs pieces to take up time. But overall it was a fair show although most of the dance teams did not show up. Culture Shock closed the show to keep their audience from leaving because everyone wanted to see them perform their version of Alice in Wonderland. It was worth the wait. They had special guest Mama in their performance, who is the Black Dance Teacher at SUNY New Paltz.
Check out the few acts that hit the stage at Dance Evolution.
This was the 1st time that a collaborative effort between Shades step team and Culture Shock dance troupe has ever been seen at Dance Evolution. They definitely made history. Shade Step Team and Culture Shock are from SUNY New Paltz.

2nd Annual Pretty Nasty….

The brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity hosted their 2nd annual Pretty Nasty Party at SUNY New Paltz. It was the kickoff to one of the most anticipated weekends at SUNY New Paltz, uniquely called “Blue & Orange Weekend.” Dj Spynfo was on the 1’s and 2’s. DJ Spynfo plays the best of Hip Hop, R&B, SOCA, Calypso and Reggae. There were shuttles that were leaving the Hab Circle at 10:30pm, taking students from the SUNY New Paltz campus to venue for the party.
Current students and alumni were looking forward to Blue and Orange weekend at SUNY New Paltz. Indeed, Pretty Nasty was a very highly anticipated party until the worst happened. The party was shut down by the cops because the line was too long and things started to get out of control. Approximately 867 people didn’t get to go in, myself included, which was a disappointment!!!
It was very disappointing because SUNY New Paltz students and alumni were waiting for this weekend since the last one Blue & Orange was a major success a year ago. The problem with this party was the brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity promoted the party by inviting schools that were close by to SUNY New Paltz. These schools were VASSAR, MARIST, MOUNT SAINT MARY’S, DUTCHESS COMMUNITY COLLEGE, ULSTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE, POUGHKEEPSIE and BEACON. This left SUNY New Paltz students upset because they could not get in. Most of the people who could not get in were SUNY New Paltz students and their guests.
Students at the SUNY New Paltz campus were very disappointed they could not get in because of the mixed crowds from many of these other schools. Some of the people who started Blue and Orange weekend and who was part of the Fraternity could not even get into the party either.
If I was to plan next year’s Pretty Nasty party, I would have two separate lines one for SUNY New Paltz and their guests and the other line for the non SUNY New Paltz. Of course, New Paltz students and their guests would get first priority in getting into the party. Also I would not promote all of the colleges listed above, maybe only two or three. This was supposed to be a celebration for the students who go to New Paltz and instill the school pride that seems lost on this campus.
